Tideborn Empire is a thinking-person's strategy title that trusts you to plan ahead. You manage resources, expand along a coastline, and defend against rivals whose AI actually adapts to how aggressive you play. Turns are quick, but decisions carry weight.
What I appreciated most is how it avoids the usual timers-everywhere trap. You can play at your own pace, and the campaign has a clear arc rather than an endless treadmill. Skirmish mode is where I sank the most hours once I understood the systems.
It asks for patience up front, and the tutorial could be gentler. Stick with it past the first hour and it opens into something really satisfying.
